Bespoke joinery is what we do when a room needs something the catalogues can't supply. Crown Carpentry designs and builds one-off pieces for homes across Jersey: alcove units beside a chimney breast, wall panelling for a hallway, a media wall in the living room, a window seat under an awkward dormer.
Every brief starts with a visit. We measure the space, talk through how you want it to feel, and sketch options on the spot. From that we draw a proper plan, agree the materials and finish, and quote a fixed price. There are no surprises later, and you see exactly what you are paying for before we cut a single piece of timber.
Most of the build happens in our Jersey workshop. Working off-site means we can build to tighter tolerances, spray finishes properly, and keep the noise and dust out of your house. The pieces are then delivered, scribed to the wall, and fitted in a single visit wherever possible.
We work in solid timber — oak, ash, walnut — and in painted MDF and veneered board where the finish calls for it. Joinery details are honest: dovetails where they belong, mortise-and-tenon for frames, biscuits and dominoes for alignment, glue and pins for trim. Nothing is hidden behind filler that shouldn't be.
Past projects include floor-to-ceiling library walls, alcove units with concealed TV lifts, panelled hallways in old St Helier townhouses, fluted bedheads, fluted bar cabinetry, fluted everything for a while, custom window seats with hinged storage lids, and a fair number of built-in dog beds for clients who refuse to compromise.
