Second fix is the carpentry stage that decides how the house actually feels. After the plaster is on and before the decorator arrives, Crown Carpentry runs second-fix packages across Jersey — doors, skirting, architrave, window boards, stair parts and the dozens of small details a build needs to read as finished.
Builders and project managers across the island bring us in for second fix because the work doesn't come back for snags. We take the load off the main contractor by surveying the property, sequencing the trim work alongside electrics and plastering, and trimming each room out to the same standard whether it's a master suite or a utility cupboard.
Typical packages include: door linings checked and adjusted, internal doors hung with consistent reveals, architrave cut and pinned, skirting fitted with scribed internals and tight mitres, window boards levelled and scribed to plaster, loft hatches lined, airing-cupboard fronts built, bathroom panels and bath skirts made and fitted, and final ironmongery installed.
We supply our own materials or work to the architect's spec, and we coordinate with painters, tilers and electricians so nobody is waiting on us and we aren't waiting on them. Sites are kept tidy: offcuts in the skip, dust in the vac, and pencil lines off the wall before the painter shows up.
For private clients running a renovation, we'll do the same work room by room rather than as a full package, fitting around your timings and the rest of the trades.
